Welcome to Gerrish Township Fire & EMS
Gerrish Township Fire and EMS Department (GTFD) provides Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) that includes Advance Life Support (ALS) with on-duty staffing 24/7. On-duty staffing allows for a much quicker response time than waiting for members to respond to the station and then to the scene of an incident. ALS is the most advanced life support service provided by ambulance agencies that includes cardiac monitoring and interpretation (EKGs), fluid therapy via IV access, medication administration, pain management, advanced airway management, and all other services provided by Basic Life Support Ambulances. GTFD is the only ALS service in northern Roscommon County.
Serving a community of over 3000 residents that swells to 10’s of thousands during peak summer season, GTFD responded to 593 calls for service in 2023 with 80% of those calls being EMS-related. GTFD is also a member of local mutual aid agreements and the statewide Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) providing ALS intercepts and responding to assist other agencies.
